High Mass on St Jude's Day during the Second World War

Photographs by Ronald Procter probably taken in 1939 or 1940.
The final image of the blessing was sent as a card to parishioners on active service in 1944.

  1. I am grateful to Father John Bunker for pointing out the colour of the vestments in the first photo means it was taken on a separate occasion - probably in Eastertide.

  2. The second photo shows the singing of the Gospel in the sanctuary (facing north).

The Deacon is Father John Knight, and the subdeacon (holding the book) is John Offley. The Master of Ceremonies to the right of the Deacon is John Bunker.

I am grateful to Father John Bunker for this note.
