You can walk from Golders Green in about 15 minutes or take the H2 bus from Golders Green station (actually from the former trolleybus turning circle in Finchley Road). It runs every 12 minutes in the daytime until 8.15pm, then every 15 minutes on the quarter hour. Alight at Heathgate or - after a ride round the Suburb - the top of Northway.
Because the route is circular the vehicles always, rather unhelpfully, now show 'Golders Green' as the destination, though they sometimes have 'via Garden Suburb' on the side. They only operate around the circle in one direction.
Beware of the H3 which looks hopeful but will suddenly take you off in the wrong direction.
The services all run on the 'hail and ride' system, so if you set off walking you will not find any stops - just wave at the driver.
There is a taxi rank on North End Road.

631 (formerly H1) school buses to 'Henrietta Barnett School' will also bring you to Heathgate.
