Mission Action Plan
2010/11
Our mission is to celebrate and communicate the Christian faith in the Anglican tradition.
Celebrate
We assemble on a Sunday morning to celebrate the Eucharist.
We provide opportunities for spiritual growth and Christian education.
We endeavour to grow in care and love for one another as a community.
Communicate
We seek to understand the needs of our parish population and be good neighbours.
We engage with our parish in providing care and social and cultural activities.
We promote our faith to those in our parish attracted to our church and its activities.
Specific Goals and Tasks
Celebration
• Make our worship joyful, inclusive and varied;
• Be open and welcoming to all people and cherish the members of our community as we grow in strength and numbers;
• Ensure effective lines of pastoral information and response;
• Formulate a policy on preparation for Christian initiation (baptism and confirmation);
• Build upon a strong and vibrant Junior Church to provide a safe and welcoming environment for children;
• Build on the strength of our Prayer Group and Bible Study Group;
• Establish a regular, varied social programme;
• Introduce a series of Discussion Meetings after-service to understand and promote the Anglican tradition;Explore ways of enhancing the spiritual growth of the community, for example through the annual parish retreat or residential conferences; and
• Identify the most appropriate shape for our liturgy.
Communication
• Be good neighbours;
• Promote and participate in local inter-faith and ecumenical activities;
• Identify points of contact with other groups within the parish (schools, Fellowship, Wives’ Fellowship);
• Identify a local social need in which we can participate in meeting;
• Create opportunities for people who want to explore the Christian Faith.
