Heritage Open Day at St Jude-on-the-Hill

Conservation of our wall paintings by Walter Starmer has been ongoing since March this year at St Jude on the Hill.

Two interns from Pakistan, supported by the Commonwealth Heritage Forum, are working with a team from Cliveden Conservation to clean and stabilise 57 wall paintings around the nave.

Now half-way through the project, conservators can share information about the original materials and painting techniques used by Starmer, as well as the conservation techniques used to return them to (close to) their original vibrancy.

Large-scale photos will help to show visitors before/after images of the conservation works, and there will be a chance to examine some of the specialist materials trialed and used by the team.
